April 2016 we flew into St. Thomas and then took the ferry and stayed for 3 nights in St. John. St. Thomas has a lot more going on, but St. John was absolutely beautiful and relaxing. Our crew chartered a boat and went to the BVI for the day; I recommend that to everyone!
